Awareness and Recovery Teaching (ART) on Drugs and Alcohol

Himalayan Asha Kendra conducts the Awareness and Recovery Teaching (ART) program on drugs and alcohol at Siliguri Correctional Home, aiming to rehabilitate and transform the lives of inmates affected by substance abuse.

This initiative focuses on creating awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol while guiding inmates toward a path of recovery and self-realization. Through structured sessions, participants are educated about addiction, its impact on physical and mental health, and the consequences it has on families and society.

The ART program integrates counseling, interactive workshops, and life-skill training to help inmates understand the root causes of their addiction. Special emphasis is placed on behavioral change, emotional healing, and developing positive coping mechanisms. Participants are encouraged to express themselves, rebuild self-confidence, and adopt healthier lifestyles.

Group discussions and peer support activities play a vital role in fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility. The program also includes motivational sessions that inspire inmates to take ownership of their recovery journey and prepare for reintegration into society.

By combining awareness with practical recovery strategies, Himalayan Asha Kendra strives to bring lasting transformation, helping individuals break free from addiction and lead productive, dignified lives after their release.
